United Airlines to launch Manchester to Washington, D.C. Service.
10th November 2011 Effective May 2, 2012 United will begin its daily non-stop service between Manchester and Washington Dulles International Airport. The airline has operated non-stop flights from Manchester to its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, since 1995."We are delighted to offer our customers non-stop service to Washington, D.C., in addition to New York," said Bob Schumacher, United's Managing Director U.K. & Ireland. "As well as cutting journey times for travellers between the two cities, the new schedule will greatly increase the range of options for customers travelling beyond our hubs to destinations throughout the Americas. Our ability to continue offering year-round, daily non-stop service from Manchester to New York while adding a Washington non-stop service illustrates the merger synergies of our expanded network as well as our continuing commitment to Manchester."
The Washington flight, CO101/UA101, will depart Manchester daily at 12:00 p.m. and arrive at Washington/Dulles at 3:08 p.m. local time the same day. The return flight, CO100/UA100, will depart Washington/Dulles daily at 10:16 p.m. and arrive at Manchester at 10:20 a.m. the next day.
United's Manchester-New York non-stop flight, CO21/UA21, will depart Manchester daily at 09:25 a.m. and arrive at New York/Newark at 12:15 p.m. local time the same day. The return flight, CO20/UA20, will depart New York/Newark daily at 7:40 p.m. and arrive at Manchester at 7:40 a.m. the next day.
Both the services will be operated by Continental Airlines Boeing 757-200 aircraft featuring 175 seats – 16 in BusinessFirst and 159 in economy.
Following their merger in October 2010 to form the new United, United Airlines and Continental Airlines continue to operate separately pending the new company's receipt of a single operating certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration, which is expected to happen later this year.
