Thai protesters shut down Bangkok airport
26th November 2008 Flights from Thailand's international airport have been suspended after hundreds of anti-government protesters stormed the building outside Bangkok leaving at least 3,000 passengers stranded.Airport manager Serirat Prasutanon announced the closure shortly after 9:15 p.m. local time Tuesday. A few minutes later, hundreds of demonstrators broke though police lines into the passenger terminal.
The government is to hold an emergency cabinet meeting, and the head of the army is due to make a statement and there is speculation that the army chief may impose emergency rule.
