Temporary British Consular office in Brisbane now open

14th January 2011 The UK Foreign Office have released the following update:

A temporary British Consular office opened on 13 January at Brisbane International Airport.

On 11 January, the local authorities evacuated Brisbane city centre because of flooding, and the British Consulate office in Brisbane had to close until further notice. The office will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Meanwhile, British Consulate staff, supported by the British Consul-General from Melbourne, are now operating from a temporary British Consular office at Brisbane International Airport.

Office hours:

Friday 14 January: 9am to 7pm
Saturday 15 January: 10am to 2pm
Sunday 16 January: 10am to 2pm
Monday 17 January onwards: 9am to 5pm

This temporary office does not handle visa biometric appointments. We have contacted visa applicants with biometric appointments booked in Brisbane until 21 January to reschedule their appointments. Alternatively, applicants travelling urgently can make a biometrics appointment in Canberra or Sydney.
