Severe weather affects Northeast US
27th January 2011 Winter weather has impacted travel to, from, or through the Northeast United States.Both New York JFK and Newark airports have been closed due to snow.
The US Federal Aviation Authority have issued the folowing update:
# Due to SNOW, the Newark International Airport (EWR) was closed as of Jan 26 at 11:42 PM EST. The date/time when the airport is expected to reopen is Jan 27 at 12:59 PM EST.
# Due to SNOW, the John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) was closed as of Jan 27 at 12:28 AM EST. The date/time when the airport is expected to reopen is Jan 27 at 08:00 AM EST.
British Airways has cancelled some flights to New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Newark today and passengers on affected services have been told not to go to the airport.
United and Continental airlines are offering passengers the option of rescheduling their flights to the northeast of America after warning that the bad weather is likely to lead to delays or cancellations of their services to Washington Dulles International Airport and Newark.
