Security Alert at Glasgow Prestwick Delays Flights
12th April 2006 Following a security alert on board a diverted Ryanair flight from Paris to Dublin, Prestwick airport has faced a number of cancellations and delays.Ryanair said a note was passed to cabin crew on flight at about 1400 BST claiming there was a bomb onboard the aircraft.
A "fighter escort" then accompanied the aircraft onto the ground at Prestwick.
All 167 passengers were taken off the plane. A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: "All are safe and well and are being interviewed."
The plane landed at 1420 BST.
A Prestwick Airport spokesman said the flight was diverted "as a precautionary measure".
A spokesman for Ryanair said: "All passengers together with Ryanair are co-operating fully with the police and local safety authorities."
