Kingfisher to join oneworld

8th June 2010 Kingfisher Airlines, India's only five star airline, is set to join oneworld after completing a formal membership agreement with the alliance.

Kingfisher has its largest operating bases at Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and will give oneworld members access to 2,737 weekly flights and nearly 70 destinations. The carrier operates mainly a domestic network but has recently started to increase its international network.

Kingfisher Airlines chairman and chief executive Vijay Mallya said: "By becoming part of oneworld, we will be able to offer our guests travel to more than 800 destinations in 150 countries, on a network that offers the best coverage of the routes and places that really count, flying with the highest quality airline partners.

The process to bring any airline on board the oneworld alliance normally takes 18 to 24 months to complete.
