22nd September 2008 The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office have updated their travel advice following the bomb attack in Islamabad at the weekend."On 20 September 2008 a major explosion destroyed the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad killing over 50 and injuring more than 250. We believe there is a heightened threat to Westerners in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar and advise against all non-essential travel to these cities at this time."
In response to the attack British Airways have offered passengers who are booked to travel to Islamabad between Saturday, 20 September 2008 and Saturday, 27 September, the opportunity to rebook to a later date. Rebooked travel must be in the same booking class.
