India: Mandatory requirements for passengers
17th September 2010 With immediate effect all passengers travelling to or transiting through India must comply with the following new mandatory requirements. All baggage must clear through customs at the first point of entry into India, regardless if their baggage has been tagged through to their final destinations.Failure to clear customs will result in the baggage not being loaded onto the connecting flight.
Passengers who purchase liquids, aerosols or gels in the duty free are not permitted to carry these items onto the connecting flight as cabin baggage. These items must be part of baggage in the hold or destroyed prior to boarding the aircraft.
These mandatory requirements will help to reduce baggage being reported lost to the airport staff and minimise passenger inconvenience.
