French strikes to hit flights

28th October 2010 According top a report on travelmole.com flights to and from France will be severely disrupted today due to strikes by the country’s air traffic controllers.

French Civil Aviation Authorities have asked all airlines to limit their schedules due to action by ATC trade unions.

France has been hit by six general strikes since the beginning of September over proposed pension reforms to increase the minimum retirement age to 62.

Around 50% of flights to Paris Orly airport and around a third of services to other French airports are expected to be cancelled today.

Short-haul flights will be most impacted, while most long-haul flights expected to operate as normal.

Air France said it hopes to operate 100% of its long-haul flights but has cancelled some domestic and European flights.
