FCO: Volcanic ash cloud: UK flight disruption
24th May 2011 The UK Foreign Office have released the following update:Many flights to and from Scotland have been cancelled on Wednesday 25 May as volcanic ash from Iceland heads towards the UK.
Passengers are advised to check with their airlines after several airlines announced they are cancelling flights.
- British Airways says as a precaution it will not be operating any flights to and from Glasgow and Edinburgh, and all flights to and from Newcastle. See BA website
- KLM has cancelled flights to and from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle on Wednesday 25 May. See KLM website
- Loganair is planning to operate flights on all routes, Wednesday 25 May. The airline flies to Scottish and English airports. See Loganair website for full details
- Eastern Airways is not operating flights to and from Scotland and some flights to Norway. Some flights are also cancelled on Wednesday 25 May. See Eastern airways
- EasyJet has cancelled flights to and from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Aberdeen. See Easyjet website.
Flybe has cancelled flights to and from Aberdeen and Inverness
BMI has cancelled flights to and from Scotland
- Ryanair flights to and from Scotland are cancelled. See Ryanair website for full information.
- A number of flights from Newcastle airport have been cancelled. See Newcastle Airport website
Iceland airspace remains open on Tuesday 24 May but may be affected again later in the day. Iceland's Keflavik airport was closed on Monday 23 May after the Grimsvötn volcano in south east Iceland began erupting on Saturday 21 May.
