A curfew was imposed on 7 May in Tunis and the capital city suburbs following two days of protest that witnessed some incidents of violence and damage to property. The curfew remains in place between midnight and 04:00 until further notice.

There have been incidents of live fire and shells landing on Tunisian soil at the western Libya/Tunisia border crossing of Dehiba. We advise against all but essential travel to areas of Tunisia within 40km of the Libyan border and we continue to advise against all travel to Libya. This restriction does not affect the main tourist resorts in Tunisia.

British nationals requiring consular assistance in Tunisia should contact the British Embassy in Tunis on (216) 71 108 700.
