FCO: Change to travel advice for Thailand and Cambodia
27th April 2011Foreign Office now advises against all travel to the Ta Krabey and Ta Moan temple area.
Due to the presence of troops and recent outbreaks of fighting, we have changed our travel advice to advise against all travel to the Ta Krabey and Ta Moan temple area, located on the Thai-Cambodian border.
We advise British nationals to exercise caution if visiting temples close to the border. You should remain alert to the local situation when travelling in other border regions, particularly at Ou Smach and at land crossings between the two countries.
If you require urgent consular assistance, call 02 305 8333 from Thailand or 02 342 7124 from Cambodia.
Disputes exist over control of the Ta Moan and Ta Krabey temples. Fighting broke out between Cambodian and Thai troops at Ta Krabey on 22 April and is ongoing. A number of deaths and injuries have been reported by both sides.
