FCO: Advise for travellers to Germany following E. coli outbreak
3rd June 2011 The UK Foreign Office have released the following update:Travellers to Germany should avoid eating raw tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce following outbreak of haemolytic uraemic syndrome caused by E. coli.
German authorities have confirmed the outbreak and are advising people across Germany, and especially those in the north to avoid tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce as a precaution.
The exact source of the contamination has not been determined.
The UK Health Protection Agency are updating their advice regularly and advise travellers to follow the advice of the German authorities.
