Edinburgh Airport Evacuated

24th January 2007 The following statement is taken from the BAA website[www.baa.com]

"Edinburgh Airport has been evacuated following the discovery of a suspect package in the terminal today, at around midday.

As a precaution, passengers and staff have been diverted to the nearby Hilton Hotel at Edinburgh Airport.

Aircraft are continuing to land at Edinburgh Airport. However, all departing flights have been suspended until further notice.

Passengers due to fly from Edinburgh this afternoon are advised to check the status of their flight with their airline or at www.edinburghairport.com before departing for the airport. Lengthy delays should be expected.

Passengers checking-in for flights can be dropped at the Hilton Hotel at Edinburgh Airport but will not be permitted access to the terminal until further notice. Similarly, no vehicles will be allowed access to the terminal forecourt or neighbouring car parks. Motorists should expect severe delays on the local road network."
