Dublin Airport Delays Continue

10th July 2008 Following the flight disruptions and cancellations at Dublin Airport yesterday, passengers are advised to contact their individual airline BEFORE coming to the airport today.

Over 200 flights were delayed, diverted or canceled at Dublin Airport on Wednesday after air traffic control systems malfunctioned.

The Irish Aviation Authority barred aircraft from landing at Ireland's largest airport for about two hours after the radar system failed to display the call signs that normally identify each incoming aircraft. The chaos left thousands of passengers scattered at other airports throughout Ireland.

Landings and takeoffs resumed at half their usual rate Wednesday afternoon. The Irish Aviation Authority warned that restrictions on traffic volume would continue Thursday, meaning another likely day of delays and cancelations.
