Baggage System Causes Chaos At Manchester Airport
31st July 2006 Thousands of passengers were left facing long delays at Manchester Airport's Terminal Two today after a failure of the baggage handling system.Engineers struggled to fix the problem which first arose at 3am when the computer which handles the system failed. Airport bosses said the failure had affected 5,000 travellers and that 24 flights were delayed as a result of the hold-ups.
The system was back up and running from midday but an airport spokesman warned of delays while the backlog is cleared.
