FCO: Indonesia earthquake - tsunami watch issued across Indian Ocean

11th April 2012 The UK Foreign Office have released the following update:

British nationals in the region are advised to monitor local media for advice after an earthquake in Indonesia prompted a tsunami watch across the Indian Ocean region.

An 8.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the western coast of Northern Sumatra, Indonesia on 11 April.

British nationals in the region are advised to call home to let family know they are safe.
