New Security Checks at London Heathrow Airport
6th February 2006 British Airways have advised the TD Travel Group of some changes to the security search processes at London Heathrow Airport, which may also be brought into other UK, US and European Airports in the future. The changes mean that:
* If you are taking a laptop with you, it will need to be removed from its bag to be screened separately.
* If you are wearing a belt, you will need to remove it before you are body searched at security.
These security changes may increase the length of queues at security, therefore, especially at peak travel times, British Airways recommend that you allow extra time for the security process after check-in. Flights are available for check-in and Fast Bag Drop at Heathrow as follows:-
Shorthaul Flights Two hours and Thirty Minutes before departure
Longhaul Flights Three hours before departure
Passengers can still take advantage of Online Check-in and Fast Bag Drop facilities to speed up check-in times and avoid check-in queues.
