UPDATED: Valentine's Day French Air Traffic Control Strike

13th February 2006 ------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Possible Valentine's Day Strike Action.
------------------------------------------------------------

The French Civil aviation authority (DGAC) expects "possible air traffic disturbances" particulary in the morning on Tuesday February 14th, because of a strike notice, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

The impact of these notices, in particular on air traffic is difficult to predict, specifies the DGAC which has advised passengers to check directly their Airline.

Jean-Paul Armangau, national secretary of Usac-CGT, indicated that a possible disturbance "would be very limited".

UPDATE: Air France says "Long Haul Flights Unaffected"
posted: Wednesday 1st February 2006
------------------------------------------------------------

Flights are likely to be disrupted across France on Thursday as traffic controllers join in a nationwide public sector strike, the French civilian air authority DGAC said.

"Disruptions are expected, particularly early in the day," in all French airports, the DGAC said in a statement, asking travellers to contact their carriers directly for more details about individual flights. All seven French public sector unions have called for a day of strikes and protests on Thursday to call for better pay.

The national air controllers' union, SNCTA, played down the risk of serious disruption, however, noting that air sector workers were obliged to provide a minimum service.

Air France said it expected some disruptions, and a few cancellations to its medium-haul services, but that all long-haul flights would operate normally.

Possible French Air Traffic Control Strike Today

Unconfirmed reports of a strike by French air traffic control have been received by TD Business Travel Management.

The industrial action is expected to take place between 5pm today (February 1st) and 4am on Friday (February 3rd).

Although the extent of possible delays is as yet unknown it is highly probable that all flights operating through French airspace could be affected. At present, British Airways are planning to operate their services as scheduled.

More details will be posted here when we receive them.
