SAS ground staff strike announced

18th December 2009 Statement from SAS - Scandinavian Airlines System

SAS Group Ground staff take industrial action 22-23 Dec, 26-27 Dec, 03-04 Jan at London Heathrow & Aberdeen

A minority of airport ground staff from SAS Ground Services UK Ltd (SGS UK), a member of the SAS Group, have decided in a recent union ballot to take industrial action over the Christmas and New Year periods.

The industrial action will be a series of 48-hour strike periods covering 6 days:

Tue 22 Dec, Wed 23 Dec, Sat 26 Dec, Sun 27 Dec, Sun 3 Jan, Mon 4 Jan

Since it is a small number of staff taking strike action, SGS UK and SAS have been able to establish a comprehensive plan that will minimise any disruption to our customers, and we expect all SAS, Blue 1, Wideroe flights to operate as planned from London Heathrow and Aberdeen.

Important information if you are booked or plan to travel on these specific dates:

Despite the industrial action, we expect all flights to operate as planned, but we may experience longer queues at check-in, so we would like to recommend you arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure and also check-in online or use our Mobile check-in.

After you have checked-in online, printed your boarding pass or checked-in on your mobile, then upon arrival at the airport:

• If you do not have bags to check-in:
- By-pass check-in and go straight to Security*

• If you have bags to check-in:
- Visit SAS self-service kiosks in the Check-in area, print your baggage tags, and visit the Bag Drop counter before proceeding to Security*

* At London Heathrow - EuroBonus Gold members and SAS Business Class passengers please use Fast Track Security*

Once again, we would like to state we expect all flights to operate as planned, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused to you during this period.
