Possible strike action: East Midlands Trains

21st July 2009 Proposed industrial action to affect East Midlands Trains on Friday 24 July and Monday 27 July 2009

Because of proposed industrial action by members of the ASLEF union, East Midlands Trains may be running a reduced train service on Friday 24 July and Monday 27 July 2009. If the industrial action takes place, the following changes will apply:

Services to and from London St Pancras

* There will be a reduced train service between Sheffield, Derby, Leicester and London St Pancras, calling at intermediate stations.
* An hourly connecting train service will run between Leicester and Nottingham.
* There will be no trains to or from Corby. Customers should use Stagecoach X1 bus services between Corby and Kettering for connections to or from London St Pancras.

These services do not currently show in Journey Planning systems.

Other East Midlands Trains services

A limited train service will run between Nottingham and Skegness.

Buses will replace trains between:

* Nottingham, Mansfield and Worksop
* Derby and Matlock
* Loughborough and Leicester
* Derby and Stoke-on-Trent
* Nottingham, Newark and Lincoln
* Nottingham and Grantham
* Peterborough and Lincoln
* Grimsby and Lincoln
* For customers with Megabusplus tickets between East Midlands Parkway and London.

These bus services do not currently show in Journey Planning systems. Timetables will be published when available.

No other East Midlands Trains services are expected to run. Customers should use other operators services where available.

Alternative Routes

Customers may use other train operator services on the following routes:

* Sheffield - Manchester - Liverpool (Northern Rail or First TransPennine Express)
* Nottingham - Sheffield (Northern Rail)
* Lincoln - Doncaster (Northern Rail)
* Grantham - Peterborough (National Express East Coast)
* Peterborough - Ely (CrossCountry)
* Ely - Norwich (National Express East Anglia)
* Stoke-on-Trent - Crewe (London Midland)
* Lincoln - Grimsby: Use Stagecoach InterConnect 3 bus services
* Boston - Skegness: Use Stagecoach InterConnect 7 bus services

Ticket acceptance and refunds

Customers with East Midlands Trains tickets dated for Friday 24 July or Monday 27 July:

* are able to travel on other Train Operating Companies services on all reasonable alternative routes on the day industrial action takes place
* are able to travel on East Midlands Trains services on Thursday 23 July or Saturday 25 July with tickets dated Friday 24 July.
* are able to travel on East Midlands Trains services on Sunday 26 July or Tuesday 28 July with tickets dated Monday 27 July.
* are able to travel on Stagecoach bus services detailed above.
* can obtain a full refund from the tickets point of sale.
