Budapest airport strike update
12th December 2008 Traffic update from Budapest Airport – 8:30 a.m.Due to the strike traffic at Budapest Airport has slowed down significantly during the Friday morning peak period, but the airport is operating and flights arrive and depart – although with some delays. Passengers are waiting in long queues and in a very orderly way to get through the security screening. Two passenger security lanes are operating out of five and staff asks everyone waiting in the lines to take off their coats, get the coins out of their pockets in advance, therefore less time will be spent on each person.
Lufthansa’s early morning plane to Frankfurt, Wizz Air's London and Milano flights as well as Malév’s service to Brussels has already departed.
Arriving flights are running on schedule.
Until noon only the Lufthansa flight to Düsseldorf was cancelled, the rest of the twenty departing flights will take-off. Only Terminal 2 is in operation, all flights depart from here.
Budapest Airport kindly asks all passengers to contact their airline for further information before heading to the airport.
