Lufthansa Subsidiary on Strike
7th August 2008 Pilots at Lufthansa subsidiary CityLine are to go on strike today (Thursday 7th August) to underline their wage demands, pilots' trade union Vereinigung Cockpit said on Wednesday. The trade union said the strike at regional carrier CityLine, which offers around 400 flights per day, would last for 36 hours.
A Lufthansa spokesman said the impact of the strike was still unknown, but disruptions were expected.
Pilots at CityLine have already staged several stoppages in past weeks to underline their demands in a wage dispute that has lasted for several months.
Wednesday's call for new strikes came just days after Lufthansa settled a separate wage dispute with services trade union Verdi to end a strike by Lufthansa ground staff that caused hundreds of flight cancellations last week.
