Heathrow Update: Incoming Flights Restart

10th August 2006 The ban on short-haul flights into Heathrow has been lifted, although the airport is not yet operating at normal capacity.

Airline BMI has resumed most of its short-haul flights to Heathrow from domestic and European airports apart from those in Spain.

Many other domestic flights into Heathrow remain cancelled, and a BAA spokesman said incoming long-haul flights were operating with severe delays.

Outbound flights are also subject to severe delays, with hand searches of all passengers.

Severe delays were expected at all four terminals for the rest of the day and airport operator, BAA are still advising that passengers should not travel to the airport unless absolutely necessary.
